What Toronto Humane Society could be....

... with the will to do it.

Someone else has been thinking about THS.

Save the Toronto Humane Society has a terrific list of the actions the Toronto Humane Society should be taking to be a vital animal welfare agency.

Think of what THS could be.

With the will.

Haitian catastrophe - you can help.

If you want to donate to one or more organizations helping in Haiti, try CanadaHelps.org. There's a list of charities raising funds to help in Haiti here.

CanadaHelps is a secure online donation site, you can donate by credit card or direct withdrawal from your bank account, and (it seems tacky to bring it up, but...) you get the tax receipt by e-mail.

You can donate to any of Canada's 83,000 charities through CanadaHelps, including animal rescues.

Slick new look! Check it out!

Not here, as you can see....it's the Dog Legislation Council of Canada's new website. See it here!

Check out the DLCC's blog while you're at it, Wag The Dog.

The DLCC has been at the forefront of the Canadian fight against unfounded, unjust, inhumane, ineffective and fiscally irresponsible breed specific legislation for years.

Get a membership and join the fight!

eTalk on CTV features Toronto Animal Services South

...with host Tanya Kim receiving lots of sloppy kisses from Sparky, who I think is the same AmBull pictured on One Bark At A Time. Mention was made of how one can volunteer at TAS, and that a background check is required.

I hope CTV puts the clip with Sparky and the wee kittens (probably three weeks old) on their website. They'd get hits!

Good going, Sparky!

Humane Society of United States 2008 tax filing breakdown

Chicobandido.com has done an analysis of the HSUS 2008 tax filing and followed the money.

HSUS spent one-half of one percent on animal care. One-half of one cent of every dollar donated.

Inform yourself before you donate. Support your local rescues and shelters, to you know your money is really going to the animals.

Side note: If you want to support Toronto Humane Society animals and not THS lawyers, the OSPCA has a trust account for THS animal care. Go to any bank and do a direct deposit to the following:

TD Canada Trust account number: 5224209
Transit number: 0307
