BRYANT QUITTING POLITICS???!!!

According to a story today in the Toronto Star, Michael Bryant is leaving provincial politics to work for the City of Toronto.

Let me caffeinate myself, sort my thoughts and find out what I really think of this move.

Addendum:
Once Bryant is a private citizen, I can't rag on him anymore. What a shame. Best, and easiest, targat I've had in my life.First thoughts.

1. Who represents Bryant's riding now? Will the taxpayers be stuck with yet another bill for a by-election? I say we give the bill to the resigning MPP (or MP), since their failure to fulfill their employment contract caused the expense to the taxpayers.

2. The Toronto Star article has a lot of "sources" and conjectures. One of which is that Bryant will run for head of the Fibs and potentially Premier. Say it ain't so. The thought of Bryant as Premier makes me physically sick. Bryant has to me proven that his political ambition overrides protecting the Charter rights of law-abiding people and that he will legislate them into second-class citizenship if it serves his purpose.

3. I'll never vote for someone who legislated law-abiding people into second-class citizenship, and killed unoffending dogs just because of their shape. That's Bryant, McGuinty and the rest of the sitting Fibs.

4. What qualifications does Bryant have to be leading Toronto's economic development? Is he experienced in finance, business development, marketing? Has he worked in any business other than a law firm? How does he deserve this big-time job with Toronto? If you read his comments to the Canadian Club, you should be flailing in your seat - with laughter or horror, I'm not sure.

5. Is Bryant booking for the door before the challenge of his "pit bull" ban hits the Supreme Court? I am SO hoping that the justices of the Supreme Court see this law for what it is - legislating people into second-class citizenship based on their property, not on behaviour - and throw it into the trash. Do you think perhaps that Bryant doesn't want to be taking the heat when his "pit bull" ban bursts into flames? Bet he and the Fibs were and continue to be surprised at the organized and ongoing "little people" opposition to this particular piece of $@!!.

Wag The Dog has a nice piece on this Fib's latest foray into....

Someone please explain to me....

1. How a man who couldn't pick a "pit bull" from a series of pictures, even when coached, is going to pick "successful businesses"?

2. If a business is successful, why does it need my tax dollars?

3. If a business isn't successful, why should it be propped up with my tax dollars?

4. What happened to the big freakin' surplus the McGuinty Fibs were trumpeting not so long ago? Where did the dollars go???

5. Why is Bryant trumpeting government as "impactful" (a non-word that kinda sorta makes me wanna hurl) when its impact has been only negative?

More bloody Fiberal nanny-state nonsense. The Fibs are chewing further and further into our right to govern our own lives.

Read the Toronto Sun articles Investment Advice For Dummies and A liberal state of mind, and ask yourself why Dalton McGuinty keeps backing away from Bryant's public pronouncements.

If there were any Fibs in my family, I'd disown them. For overweening arrogance bolstered by matchless stupidity.

McGuinty Fib gov't slouching towards Bethlehem?

Christina Blizzard of the Toronto Sun has been writing about how the McGuinty Liberals are gutting the Ontario health care system.

I think this Do Not Resuscitate Confirmation form my friend found must be part of the "cost cutting". Let's kill the elderly, they cost too much.

Interesting point from my chum's research - this DNR form does not appear to have been passed as part of any law. It was developed by the Ontario Palliative Care Association - has a big Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care logo on it (how can it be healthy or long-term care when the form kills you?) - but it doesn't appear to have any legal standing.

This DNR form wasn't developed for hospitals and nursing homes, but to protect paramedics. It can be signed by someone with limited medical training and no professional qualification to determine a patient's competence, no notice is given to the family, and the patient dies.

So, if your family or friends are admitted to hospital, be sure to search their medical charts and make sure someone hasn't stuck a DNR form on the person.

Scary $hit everywhere. Apparently people in the UK in their 60's are getting substandard care because they're "too old". Same thing is creeping into the system here.

According to TV Stevie on Rogers.com, television producers have approached Michael Vick to star in a reality show.

Unless this program shows Vick being drowned, slammed repeatedly on the ground and electrocuted, I will boycott any advertiser stupid enough to sign on for this. If it shows on Spike or A&E, I will cancel that portion of my cable television subscription.
